A new year of study at BSF begins...
Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) finally began after a long summer break. I love to learn more about God through the personal study, discussion and lecture. We begin with the book of Acts this year. I would love to put what I learn into action. I continue to pray to God for Him to transform me through the work of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

AWANA
The name "AWANA" is an acronym that stands for ... Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.
Awana helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ!
There are three main activities in a club meeting:
1) Handbook Time: A time when the children memorize Bible scripture and earn awards for their achievement. Clubbers can also learn their verses at home.
2) Game Time: We play unique games that are designed to help the kids exercise/develop teamwork skills and to have fun.
3) Council Time: A time for the children to learn about God through Bible messages and to worship Him with music and songs.

I enjoy doing the Bear Bug activities at home with Haley. We get to bond through doing the activities from the handbook and to read bible stories & bible verses together. She is proud to show me her stickers and awards after completing the review with the teacher during class time. The most important thing is that she gets to know about God.

Haley's schedule
Starting in September, Haley's weekly schedule as follow:
Monday 6-6:45 dance
Tuesday 9-11:30 preschool; 1:30-3:30 kiddie kollege
Wednesday 9-11 BSF; 7-8:30 AWANA
Thursday 9-11:30 preschool; 1:30-3:30 kiddie kollege
I wasn't sure if this will be too much for a 3-year old, but we are going to try couple months to see how we adjust to this new schedule. It has been three weeks, and Haley enjoys all the programs and activities.

開學啦!
Haley is officially a preschooler. As expected, Haley had no separation anxiety...such a big girl. Ms. Nancy went through some information with all parents before class began. Haley was a bit reserved at the beginning because there were close to 50 people including the students and parents. She stood next to me during Ms. Nancy's talk for a little while then she went off to the different activity stations on her own. I simply got a kiss from her...actually maybe 3, 4 or 5 kisses because I kept going back to her, thinking she might not want me to go. Well, guess that's not the case. I hope she will enjoy school life in her future years.

Santa Cruz Broadwalk 2011
It was overcast and chilly in the morning when we headed to Santa Cruz for some beach fun. Out of our expectation that it turned out to be a hot summer day. We should have brought our swimming suits along with us. Despite of our dress code, we spent a wonderful afternoon at the beach. The waves were pretty strong and Haley refused to even walk close to the water this time.

每日一字?
I try to teach Haley one Chinese word a day... She was so excited when she recognized some of the words in the story books that we read together.

Like mother, like daughter
It's movie night tonight. Owen selected the movie "Up" to watch. I went upstairs and left them to enjoy the movie. When it got to the part where Russell met Kevin, Owen came upstairs and asked me to check on Haley because she looked very sad. As soon as I walked down and Haley saw me, she started to cry and said mommy. Oh! My little girl must be heartbreaking after she watched the parts about Ellie's life and how lonely Mr. Fredrickson was. Like mother, like daughter...she is just as sentimental as me. We ended up finishing the movie together while she sat on my lap. I loved that moment of holding her in my arms.
